Psychotherapy (or counseling) is a method designed to help people make changes in their lives when their normal methods of answering life's challenges have not yielded successful solutions. You may find yourself at such a moment right now; we all do at some time.

In therapy, I offer an opportunity to solve the difficulties that trouble you through engaging in a structured, yet powerful, interaction that is specifically oriented to help you resolve the problems that have not yielded to your previous efforts. Over the years, I've learned that the aspects of life that we take for granted, and therefore don't see, are frequently the source of our difficulties. Because these beliefs, generalizations, and self-obvious 'truths' are almost never questioned, or even noticed, we normally assess neither their validity nor their effects in our lives. Their almost invisible quality allows us to repeat the strategies of living that have failed to work in the past.

Making important changes in life can be unsettling at times. My style of working aims to provide a private, encouraging, interactive and non-judgmental arena for coming to better understand yourself and the choices you make in life. Since my only role is to help you, my objective position allows me to question, clarify, and assist you to both examine and change some of your fundamental assumptions about your self, about the way the world works, and about how you work in the world. This will allow you to make the actual changes in day-to-day living that will directly lead to feeling much happier and more satisfied. I will help you see the strengths and talents that you can bring to the challenges of living. Depression and anxiety are powerful blinders that keep you from recognizing the goodness in yourself.
