Therapeutic Impasses

Psychotherapies sometimes get locked-up in ways that, despite their best efforts over long periods of time, neither the client nor the therapist can find ways to unlock. If these situations are not adequately handled severe and very painful ruptures can result, with long-term damage being done to both parties. In these impasses a third party, in the form of a consultant can be of help. This consultation can take many different forms, from a phone conversation with one of the parties to a series of joint meetings with the client, therapist and consultant in a room together.

If you are in such an impasse and would like help resolving this painful situation please call me at (510) 658-3937. I also suggest that you read "Resolving Impasses in Therapeutic Relationships" by Sue Elkind, Ph.D.
